Sri K.S. Subbaramu, an ardent devotee of Sri Sringeri Sharada Peetham since decades and also a resident of Rajarajeshwarinagar on an auspicious day thought and decided to form a committee of like minded friends of Rajarajeshwarinagar to celebrate Sri Shankara Jayanti which was not observed in public.
Thus Sri Shankara Bhagavatpada Seva Samiti was born on 16-02-2009 much to the delight and happiness of devotees of Sri Shankara.
In the next meeting on the vital vision and suggestion of Sri Subbaramu the committee unanimously decided and approved to request Guruseva Dhureena Padmasri Dr. V.R. Gowrishankar, Administrator and CEO of Sri Sringeri Sharada Peetham, Sringeri to become “Chief Patron” of our Samiti. Dr. V.R Gowrishankar was so gracious and kind to our request and accepted the post.
The Samiti is guided by his long and dedicated service to Sri Mutt. Thus Sri Sri Shankara Bhagavatpada Seva Samiti was born and registered accordingly.
About 100 Patrons and 500 Life members are enrolled to Samiti till today drawn from all walks of life. A blend of experienced and youths in the committee have put in their efforts to bring the Samiti to the fore front as a dedicated and devoted institution in a span of 4 years and has become result oriented institution in Rajarajeshwarinagar.
More to add, Dr. R. Arunachalam, a leading businessman and president of Sri Sringeri Sharada Temple at Shakti Hills Rajarajeshwarinagar has kindly come forward to build a big hall to house Sri Shankara idol besides accommodating devotees to have their prayers and to hold meetings and other activities to perpetuate the teachings of Sri Shankara’s Advait philosophy. On his personal request only, the Samiti is celebrating Sri Shankara Jayanti at the premises of Sri Shanumukha’s Temple in the morning of Sri Shankara Jayanti day much to the delight of devotees who are thronging in big numbers.
A big site at the bottom of Sri Shakti hills is ordained by Sringeri Shankara Mutt and its Shylanyasa was performed by none other than the Jagadguru of Sri Sharada Peetham Sringeri Sri Sri Bharathi Theertha Maha Swamigalu on Sunday 4th March 2012 before a very big gathering of thounds of devotees.
Thus a dream of having Sri Shankara Mutt in our midst has come true by the Devine grace of Sri Sharadamba and Anugraham of Jagadguru of Sri Sharada Peetham. The Samiti feel proud of its achievements in a small span of 4 years.
